Domaine FL Anjou Rouge “Le Cochet” 2016 Loire Valley France

I know from experience that Loire Valley Cabernet Franc (LVCF) has a hard time finding its way into the shopping carts of most wine drinkers. It's a red wine unfamiliar even to many wine enthusiasts and more often sought after by wine geeks who know what to look for. If you're not in touch with this category, finding desirable LVCF can be difficult. Levels of quality and style are across the board. Some of these reds show less than inviting hints of earth and funk as well as notes of green pepper and other vegetal components that can over-power the fruit. Not everyone's cup of tea, that's for sure. Our Le Cochet Cabernet Franc has none of that. It is brimming with ripe fruit flavors of plum, cherry and black currant. Le Cochet is a more complex red than your common Anjou rouge but with none of that veggie stuff in tow. With its savory profile of French character Le Cochet is a great wine for pairing with hearty, comfort dishes once the weather chills down.
