Domaine Dauvissat Côtes de Lechét Premier Cru Chablis 2018 France

Ask any true, wine aficionado about Chardonnay and you'll likely get a load pertaining to the purity of fruit and nuances of mineral from the region of Chablis in northern Burgundy. Chardonnay is the only grape allowed in these parts and no other location on the planet can replicate the crisp, zippy elegance produced in this special place. Once you get into Chablis and experience the world of Premier Cru, and of course, Grand Cru, you'll discover what all the fuss is about. The nose is elegant and ripe with apple; the palate is framed by juicy acidity and a vibrant, but smooth mouthfeel. There's no debate that we're in the big leagues here because you just don't get this level of excellence in the entry level stuff. I take a lot of pride in not repeating myself but it's difficult to get the word 'pure' out of my head when I think about this beautiful wine. On the palate, crisp apple gives way to flavors of tropical fruit all floating on top of quenching acidity. It's full of class and just lovely from start to finish! Forget about that oaky, often buttered alcohol style long associated with Chardonnays from California. That junk doesn't even enter the conversation here. Chablis is nothing but unadulterated, untampered Chardonnay in it's purest form. There I go again with that purity thing! Sorry man, guilty as charged!
