With big importers like Kermit Lynch constantly on the hunt for premium French wines, it's good fun for little guys like us to sneak a high-caliber property in under the radar from time to time. Château du Coing is without question the crème de la crème when it comes to making stunning Muscadet at an affordable price. The grape in Muscadet is called Melon de Bourgogne which migrated from Burgundy to the Loire Valley hundreds of years ago. It is grown in the far reaches of western France around the city of Nantes just before the Loire River dumps into the Atlantic Ocean. It’s as dry and steely a wine as you can find just about anywhere in the world. Those who love it say you can smell and taste the sea in a well-made Muscadet. It's a wonderful food pairing wine and with its firm mineral component, crisp apple, melon and citrus flavors, there might not be a better seafood wine in the world.
