Showing more depth and character than so many of the Côtes du Rhônes you'll find in the marketplace, l'Amauve Laurances is far more reflecting of the flavors and complexities in top quality wines you'll taste in Gigondas and Vacqueyras just to the south. Christian is a hands-on winemaker knowing darn well that great work in the vineyard translates to quality results in the cellar. Christian spent a good part of his early career as general manager at Château Le Nerthe in Châteauneuf du Pape as well as some years in Tavel before coming back to the family property in Séguret. Laurances is a brooding, dark berry blend of 75% Grenache and 25% Syrah that isn't anything like your typical CdR from the southern part of the valley. So many CdR's have become pedestrian, red berry in composition and a little bit strawberry Nehi to suit the masses. Laurances is far more complex serving up rich, full dark berry, mouth-coating fruit with a wonderful, lasting finish.
