Château Cafol is a lovely Bordeaux sourced from vineyards located in the Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux AOC. Castillon is a well-regarded appellation near the coveted St. Émilion AOC and is typically praised for its juicy blackberry flavors, savory notes of licorice and spice, supple tannins and velvety texture. And maybe best of all, good quality wine from Castillon goes for much less than even your worst entry level St. Émilion bottle. Like all right bank reds, Château Cafol is built around Merlot to the tune of 70% and then blended with 30% Cabernet Sauvignon for added structure and longevity. This wine shows rich fruit, flavors of blackberry and black currant with hints of chocolate and spice leading to a really pleasant, soft finish. Excellent quality from a great 2020 vintage for Bordeaux made even better by a really great price.
