This 100% Chenin Blanc is aged in clay amphora which highlights the purity of the fruit and lends additional body and creaminess to the texture of the wine. The winery buys these amphora vessels from Italy and is beginning to garner a following for an entirely new style of Anjou Chenin Blanc in the western Loire. By aging the Chenin in clay, you get similar textural sensations like you get from oak barrique, but without the potential bitterness that oak sometimes imparts.
