Domaine St. Nicolas Blanquette de Limoux 2020 France

If you've got Champagne on your radar but are sick up to here with the high prices, I urge you to try Blanquette de Limoux from the region that started it all. Sparkling wine has been made in the Methode Champenoise style since 1531 in the Limoux area of southern France - long before the fat cats in Champagne staked their claim as the only ones who are worthy.  From the parent company, Domaine Rosier, comes this St. Nicolas bottling named after the son. It contains 90% Mauzac and 10% Chardonnay which combine to create a very tasty harmony. Crisp, green apple flavors foam onto your tongue with a wave of firm bubbles that finish in a dry, Brut style. I know we're not officially allowed to call this Champagne but I can't remember the last time I was concerned with whatever might be politically correct. If you want to get the perfect brunch started, or better yet, if you just love Champagne and you're into saving cash - these bubbles will make you giggle and the price will make you smile.
