This Saint Émilion from the brother/sister team at Saint Brice is not only expertly made but it's one heck of a bargain too. Quality St. Émilion doesn't have to break the bank and here is proof in the bottle. If you're not familiar with the Right Bank of Bordeaux where Merlot rules, this is a fairly painless way to give it go. Château Saint Brice produces this red from their estate vineyards blending 80% Merlot with 20% Cabernet Sauvignon. It is classic St. Émilion where ripe flavors of blackberries and plum mingle with hints of licorice, dried herbs, vanilla and spice. The grapes are selected and picked by hand which get their start in stainless steel tank before ageing for 12 months in French oak. The texture is plushy and soft while delivering all kinds of Bordeaux goodness at a great value price. And though it is drinking beautifully right now, it will continue to soften and get even better in the coming years. An absolute pleasure to drink!
