Les Triotes is one of the finest examples of Côte Rôtie from the Côte Blonde that you'll ever taste with its smoky, dark cherry, plum, vanilla spice and subtle hints of bacon. You see, the Côte-Rôtie is sub-divided into two main sections of varying soil composition - the Côte Brune ("brown slope") and the Côte Blonde (blonde slope). The Côte Brune produces richer, more concentrated wines on what is iron-rich, schist soils, while the Côte Blonde is an area of pale, granite schist and is known for a softer, elegant style of Côte Rotie that is more approachable and ready to drink earlier on. Les Triotes is vinified partly in whole clusters both in concrete vats and stainless steel vats and then the wine is aged in oak barrels for 18 months with 25% new oak and 75% of 1 to 5 year old barrels - the wine is bottled without filtration. This is gorgeous, cool weather Syrah to be found nowhere else but the Northern Rhône. So Tasty!
