Made with Sangiovese and 10% each of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, Selciaia delivers flavor and style that is all about Tuscany. Treated every bit as seriously as a fine Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, Selciaia is fresh and alive spending a shorter 6 months in barrel to express a more fruit forward style for immediate drinking pleasure. The ruby-red color is gorgeous and as you swirl your glass, aromas of ripe berries and sweet spices hit you first. Then the party begins with flavors of red cherry, dark raspberry, vanilla and spice filling your palate. Sweet tannins add to the structure of the wine and the soft mouth feel says you're on to some fine winemaking with this one. Selciaia is not your edgy, acidic Sangiovese like you often get from Chianti. It is rich, ripe and silky. And like all well made wines, Selciaia really comes around with some air, so plan ahead, pop the cork and decant this wine about an hour before your friends arrive. You'll be glad you did. Cin Cin!
